Recap: Pray to End Abortion: #DismantleRoe Event
Dear Friends,
I hope you have been following Stanton's recent events at the U.S. Supreme Court in Washington, DC, where I joined hundreds of fellow pro-life prayer warriors in a powerful public witness. We were praying and worshiping God as the Supreme Court prepares to hear Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, the most important abortion case since Roe v. Wade in 1973.
On Saturday, October 2, Stanton International sponsored a national prayer event at the U.S. Supreme Court on the Saturday before the Supreme Court term opened on October 4. We also prayed at Planned Parenthood on Saturday morning, and on Sunday led a worship service and candlelight vigil at the Supreme Court.
I, along with several of my teenage children and my husband, traveled to Washington for these powerful events, called Pray to End Abortion: #DismantleRoe.
Several other Stanton SoCal supporters and volunteers also came along, standing for life on behalf of the many pro-life Californians who were praying back at home. I was blessed to hear Gigi, one of our wonderful Stanton SoCal volunteer client advocates, lead a group in worship at the Supreme Court during the candlelight vigil. She reminded us of the spiritual nature of this battle, and encouraged us all through her beautiful voice to rely upon the Holy Spirit.
On Saturday, an incredible event took place. While more than 200 Christians gathered at the steps of the Supreme Court, a crowd of thousands of pro-abortion people marched past as part of the "Women's March" scheduled for the same day and time.
It was never clearer than in that moment that the battle is the Lord's, as voices raised in worship and bodies kneeling in prayer clashed with the foul chants of abortion supporters and the obscene signs they carried.
It was a privilege to "hold the ground" in front of the Supreme Court that hot October afternoon, standing firm in the strength of the Lord. Prayers were lifted on behalf of our nation, mothers and fathers contemplating abortion, and the precious children in danger of abortion. Over 30 national pro-life organizations joined with Stanton to pray for favor in the Dobbs v. Jackson case, asking the Lord to bring about an end to Roe v. Wade's dark shadow across America. We worshiped and prayed for 2 hours, long after the Women's March group passed by and left us behind, a faithful remnant standing for life at the court.
On the same day, Stanton SoCal Executive Director Laura Murphey, Stanton volunteers, and our friends from Knights of Columbus and Love Life stood at the Victorville Planned Parenthood to join in prayer from across the country. We are grateful to Alan Godin for leading the rosary, and thankful for the prayerful presence in our community on October 2.
The Dobbs v. Jackson argument is scheduled to be heard by the Court on December 1, and Stanton International's Purple Sash Revolution project is working to have prayerful pro-life witnesses at every state capital on that day. We recognize that if Roe v. Wade is overturned, the regulatory power over abortion reverts to the states - and it is critical that pro-lifers be prepared to stand for life in their state legislatures if Roe is dismantled.
I hope you will join me in continuing to pray and fast on behalf of our Supreme Court justices, that justice would indeed be done and the "right to abortion" is finally dismissed at a national level. Please follow along with Purple Sash Revolution and encourage your friends and family to join Stanton at their state capital on Wednesday, December 1 to pray for America! I will have details available soon regarding the prayer event in Sacramento as well as local events.
Thank you again for your support of Stanton SoCal! Your prayers empower us to stand for life in our community and across our nation, praying and believing that together we will see God move and bring about an end to abortion violence. Your financial support allows the life-saving work of the Stanton Mobile to continue, Keeping the Doors of Hope Open for mothers and babies in the High Desert and beyond!
For Life,
Danielle Versluys
President, Stanton SoCal
P.S. Please remember to pray for the Supreme Court as we approach the December 1 hearing in Dobbs v. Jackson, and make plans to join me and our Stanton team on that pivotal day for prayer and public witness.
