Today we had a young woman visit us, and she brought her aunt with her. They were both pregnant.

The young woman shared with me that she had made an appointment for an abortion at least six different times. Each time, something happened or came up and she could not make it to the appointment.

Six times.

Her boyfriend had already moved on to a new girlfriend, and she worried that she just could not handle being a single mom.

She said God spoke to her and told her, that she should not have an abortion. She also said that her aunt encouraged her and told her that she definitely could be a single mom, and gave her much support and affirmation.

The aunt told me that she also had an aunt, who had an abortion. That aunt has never been able to have children, and told her to never have an abortion, that abortion was wrong. She said she passed that warning along to her niece, and affirmed her strength and ability to take care of her child.

They both were so thrilled to see the ultra sound images and hear the heartbeats of each of their babies.

Family, and God, worked together here. Two generations spoke warning and affirmation to encourage this young woman that she was capable and competent and powerful.

And, God.

How many times have each one of us prayed that God would intervene and disrupt the plans and schedules and bring intervening causes to prevent women from getting to their scheduled abortions? I have, many times.

He hears, and answers.

He showed up, for us today, as He does every day, but today, He really showed us.

He hears, and answers.
